Hi friends! Today I’m sharing my DIY pineapple home decor sign. Super simple and is adding a little splash of summer color to my home!
Let’s chat supplies for this project!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine – 6″ Platform
- Die D-Lite Pineapple Etched Die Tropical Paradise
- Crafting Vinyl
- Tool’n One (Optional)
- Transfer Paper (Optional)
- Yellow ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Paint brush
- 1 – 7″x20″ piece of wood
- 3 – 5″x5.5″ pieces of wood
Let’s get started!
Step 1: Paint and stain your wood
For the larger piece, I used a Jacobean stain. For the smaller pieces, I used pink acrylic paint. I added a little white to the pink paint to make each wood tile slightly lighter in color, giving the project an ombre effect.
Step 2: Cut your vinyl decal
Using my Platinum machine and my D-Lite Pineapple Etched Die, I cut 3 vinyl pineapple decals and placed them in the center of each of the pink wooden tiles.
You can find detailed steps to this process HERE.
Step 3: Paint over decals
Paint over the pineapple decals and entire pink wooden tiles with white acrylic paint. Let dry.
Step 4: Peel decal and sand
Once the paint has completely dried you can go ahead and peel your pineapple decals off of the tiles. Sand edges and face of each wooden tile using a fine grit sandpaper.
Step 5: Glue tiles to main board
Glue your pineapple tiles vertically to the center of the main wood board. Once dry you can reinforce with brad nails from the back if you choose.
Step 6: Add ribbon and hang
Cut ribbon to your desired length and attach to the back of your board using hot glue (or staples).
Step 7: Hang and enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to share this project with any other pineapple or pink color enthusiasts you might know! 😉
